Georgia Senate passed a pro-life “heartbeat bill” earlier this month restricting abortions to before a heartbeat is detected. This is very early on in the pregnancy. Most women may not even know they are pregnant before a heartbeat is detected. This changed the current law banning abortion after 20 weeks.
As a result of this bill passing, some in Hollywood have called for a boycott of the film industry in Georgia which brings a great deal of revenue in to The Peach State each year.
One of those calling for a boycott is the radically pro-abortion Alyssa Milano. In a letter to the legislature of Georgia, Milano writes this:
“We can’t imagine being elected officials who had to say to their constituents, ‘I enacted a law that was so evil it chased billions of dollars out of our state’s economy.’ … This is the precipice on which you stand.”
The “evil” that Milano is decrying is of course the attack on so-called “reproductive rights.” The United Nations and many anti-science, anti-philosophy progressives in this and other nations says that “reproductive rights” (the “right” to an abortion) is a universal human right. Georgia is, in effect, taking a stand against this farce. No human person has a right to kill another innocent human person. Period.
I’m not going to spend time in this blog post to argue against abortion. That is for another day with a much more extensive treatment. Suffice it to say, abortion is the greatest evil that our world is facing today. Mothers are being coerced by propoganda into believing that it is acceptable for them to have their unborn children murdered. This has a great effect on our already morally bankrupt society. We have not hit the bottom of the pit, but it statements like Milano’s that hurl us down ever further.
She writes that this law is evil in large part because it is financially detrimental to the state of Georgia. If I was from Georgia, I would be proud of my state, and I would be willing to pay more in taxes to recoup the lost revenue. It is better to lose everything materially than to lose sight of what really matters. Make no mistake, Milano and others are fighting tooth and nail so that people can have the “right” to suspend the actual right to life of every human person. They are fighting to make murder legal.
To Ms. Milano, I would say: You seem to care more about tax incentives and making money than you do about women or the morality of the issue. This is reprehensible. You have a platform and you are using it to push an insidious agenda and distort the truth. I pray that you will find the truth, will repent, and will fight for what is right. May God have mercy on your soul. Also, your boycott will fail. Your cause will fail. Because Satan has already lost to the power of the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is a battle between good and evil. Come join the light.
If you have not yet seen it, I highly recommend going to the movies soon and seeing Unplanned, the story of Abby Johnson, Planned Parenthood clinic director turned pro-life activist. It is hard to watch, but well worth supporting.
